Hurling/Shinty Match:
On Saturday evening under floodlights Kildangan took on Kingussie shinty team in a combined Hurling/Shinty match. The teams
were lead out by Sean Foley, playing the bagpipes, after which Tommy Ryan took command of the game. Kildangan played very
well in the first half, however, when the hurls were swopped for shinty clubs and visa versa, the game took on a different
turn of events. Kingussie got to grips with the hurls, but the Kildangan boys will need a little bit more practice with the
shinty clubs. However, it has been reported that Willie Seymour is thinking about transferring to the Scottish side. Chairman
of the Munster council, Sean Fogarty, was in attendance and the unexpected arrival of the President of the GAA, Sean Kelly,
was a fitting tribute to the hurlers of Kildangan & shinty players of Kingussie. Hopefully, with the President seeing
first hand what an All Ireland prize could achieve, it will ensure the future of the Compromised Hurling/Shinty matches and
also, show the importance of Club All Irelands at Intermediate & Junior level. The club would like to thank Sean Fogarty
& Sean Kelly for attending the match, Tommy Ryan and his officials for keeping the peace, Sean Foley for leading out the
teams and Tommy Needham & Paddy Moroney on the gates. And lastly, the club would like to extend a huge thank you to Kingussie
Shinty team and supporters for travelling over to Tipperary and for providing such entertainment over the weekend. We wish
them a safe trip home. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.
