Our recently held First Summer Camp was a resounding success.
A huge turnout of Children attended this first summer camp hosted by Darragh Egan and Brian Lawlor.
This is the 3rd year that Darragh and 9th year that Brain have participated as Summer Camp Leaders. We thank both Clubmen
for having the foresight to recognise this as an area that was ripe and ready for initiation.
102 children attended the 3 day event with 32 girls participating. The children were divided into groups according to
age ( U/6's, U/8's, U/10's and U/12's ) and were ably mentored by Brian & Darragh who were also assisted by Geraldine
Kinane of Drom-Inch ( Tipperary Senior Camogie Player ), Richie Flannery ( Eire Og/Nenagh ), Ray Macloughney ( Kilruane and
County Minor Hurling Captain ), Our own Eoin Kelly ( Kildangan ) and Padraig Kelly ( Kildangan ).
Over the 3 days many aspects of Hurling, Football and Camogie were covered with 30 Minute drills of the skills of the
games ( Ground Hurling, hand passing, striking etc ) with novelty games using the balls thrown into the mix to keep all in
an amused and playfull mood.
On the final day of Summer Camp, all attendees were treated to a visit by Eoin Kelly ( Mullinahone ) Tipperary Senior
Star and listened awe struck to his words of advice. All children recieved Summer Camp Tee-Shirts and Posters and Cul4Kidz
magazines.
We especially thank Eoin Kelly for so genuinely expressing an interest in the childrens interest in Hurling and for fielding
questions from all, signing autographs, and for being the absolute gentleman he is known as throughout the County.
Summer Camp was such a emphatic success that a "Full Week" Summer Camp is already being planned for 2006.
The Club wishes to Thank all the mentors who made this such a success and also would like to thank all the children for
attending and their Parents for allowing them to participate in 3 fun filled days
See you in Summer Camp 2006 !!!
